Our Values THE MISSION STATEMENT OF OUR CHURCH... SINCE JESUS CHRIST SAID, "I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH", OUR PURPOSE IS TO COOPERATE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT IN PRODUCING LOVING, MATURE, AND REPRODUCING CHRISTIANS FOR JESUS' CHURCH. WE, THE PEOPLE OF NEWPORT FOURSQUARE CHURCH VALUE: 1. THE WORD OF GOD: The scriptures are paramount to all of our life and practice giving definition to God's expressed will and ways. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. It is our endeavor to make the Word of God readily available to all who will listen in any form to which they will listen and to make the presentation of the Word intensely practical, balanced, and Spirit enlivened when we deliver it. 2. WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH: When we yield ourselves in praise and worship, we are thereby inviting the Spirit of the Lord to honor us by drawing near in order to sing in, with and through us. That to us is a touch of rejuvenating life straight out of heaven. 3. TEACHABILITY: Though change may challenge us and though it may be difficult at times to embrace, we love Jesus too much to not want to become more like Him step by step. 4. INTEGRITY: We want to consistently be the same Jesus-natured, good-to-our-word, truth-filled, and biblically-principled people of honor when someone is not watching us as when someone is watching us. 5. SERVANTHOOD: We adhere to Jesus' directive for personal greatness---"be the servant of all." 6. LOVE: We recognize and appreciate when 1COR.13 is being lived out. 7. READY FORGIVENESS: It may be impossible but that offenses will come, but we want to remove the stumbling blocks of sin and the sting of woundedness as quickly and as thoroughly as possible. 8. PRACTICAL REALNESS: We refuse to shy away from tackling tough topics. Our ambition is to liberate and empower captive people by disempowering the hidden snares of darkness. 9. JOY, FUN AND HAPPINESS: Believing that we do well not to take ourselves too seriously, we love to laugh. The joy of the Lord not only is our strength but also is unmistakable evidence of His abundant life in us. 10. ACCEPTANCE: No matter what ethnic background, gender, age disability, accent, hair-dye color, or earring arrangement, all are welcome in Jesus by us. We intend to maintain a safe, family-like environment which is so filled with supportiveness and encouragement that each one can grow to the full potential of which he is capable of achieving. 11. THE MOVING OF THE SPIRIT: Words of knowledge, words of wisdom, prophecy, tongues and interpretation, miracles, healings and discerning of spirits all are received as special gifts by which our Heavenly Father personally expresses love to individuals through us. It is our intention what we would be surrendered to the Spirit so that He can always and with frequency visit upon us whatever gifts He would like to distribute. We desire that all the fruit of the Spirit would be fully evidenced among us at all times and they would be especially so when the gifts of the Spirit are in operation. 12. BROADNESS IN MINISTRY EXPRESSION: We believe that ministry is not meant to be a one-man show but rather that each one in the congregation would respond to the call of Jesus upon his life and he would exercise his gifts accordingly for the benefit of all. 13. THE AIM OF MINISTRY: The ultimate aim of the Christian ministry is to produce that love which springs from a pure heart, a good conscience and a genuine faith. 14. BURDEN FOR SOULS: We love to prayerfully and financially support missionaries and their work in distant lands. We encourage our members to take short and long term missions trips to invest their hearts and lives in the fields that are white unto harvest. We as well endeavor to use every opportunity at our disposal to see the lost come to know Jesus in our local mission field which starts just outside the doors of our church building. Foursquare is a church planting entity so in line with that affiliation it is our intention to continue planting new churches from our local body. 15. INDIVIDUAL WORTH: We are persuaded that each person from conception to the grave is a gift from God to us and therefore is worthy of high esteem, of honor, of recognition and respect. 16. CHILDREN AND YOUTH: We recognize the limited window of opportunity available to us to invest in the future of each person while that person is in the most receptive early seasons of life. We want to give the children entrusted to us the best that we have through our commitment of finances, energy, creativity and love. 17. FRIENDSHIP: Friendship is the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words.
